Blackbirds and Pies? Nope...It's black coffee and pies

Cute Cute has been hard at work collecting some feedback with regards to his food blog and he noticed that a lot of his friends commented that there seems to be less chill out, coffee places in the west. Seeking to balance his list of quaint little places, Cute Cute went around the west, finding out nice chill out places. Thank God that Cuchi helped out and help indeed she gave. Cuchi found out that Rochester Mall at Buona Vista is opened and a few secluded spots are there. One of them is Pies and Coffee.

A stand alone cafe on its own, Pies and Coffee is situated at the back part of Rochester Mall which is closer to the area of One Rochester. Nevertheless, the ambience of the place is tranquil. Gentle breezes blow past making it a cooling place and a nice fountain just beside Pies and Coffee add to the lazy feeling at Pies and Coffee. Regardless of having a nice ambience, the main thing is still the taste test and the lions were quick at verifying that.

While ordering, the lions were disappointed to find that only 2 choices of pies were available. Maybe they have more selection of pies during the weekdays. So it's an order for the Wagyu beef cheeks pie, a long black and an avocade milkshake.

Something that the lions noticed was that the service at that time was rather lousy. Lion did not know he has to collect his own food and his food was left there on the counter. The odd thing is that some customers were served food to their table and some collected it from the counter (after their food was left there for some time) Service staff was non chalant about serving which the lions find it a shame as the food was good. The long black was nice and smooth, very pleasant to the taste buds. The Wagyu beef pie was also another delight. One of the better pies that lion has eaten in Singapore. The crust was flaky and had a buttery pastry taste which blends very well with the beef cheek stew inside. The avocado milkshake was also good but it's really odd that they place chocolate syrup at the bottom....

In all, Pies and Coffee is a good place to relax and to catch up on some reading while eating and drinking. Just remember to look out for your food before it gets cold on the counter.....
