Lucky Four Leaf Clover

Another dreary rainy evening, the Lions had just finished their dinner at home and bemoaned the fact that they are trapped indoors due to the rain. Well that didn’t stopped them from searching for new places to go to in the near future and Cute Cute managed to spot a place …. Clover GAC at Seletar Airport. Now Cute Cute remembered Sunset Grill there but recalled that they have moved…. So there’s another restaurant in Seletar? Looks like an investigation is appropriate.
Not anymore!
To help them with their investigation, the Lions brought Dr Bear, Ms Sarang and Stevie Wonder along. Getting there was a bit of a challenge for them as the area of Seletar had seen some changes. Nevertheless they found Clover GAC after asking a few pilots for directions in the area.

Clover GAC is a Japanese restaurant nestled in the MAJ aviation building. It is not actually very obvious and you have to walk through the main area down a corridor till you can see Clover's sign.
Clover does lunch and dinner except Sundays and they have a yakitori buffet as well. But for now, the Lions and friends gave Clover's Ala Carte a shot.

Edamame
Assorted Yakitori
Clover has a range of yakitori to choose from. For convenience, the Lions just took their 10 sticks plate sampler. The yakitori did not disappoint and worth a shot. Those who are strong of heart can go for the chicken heart and gizzard.

Tako Wasabi
Sashimi 5 kinds
For the sashimi, there were a couple of selection to choose from. In the end, the salmon, swordfish, tai, tuna and octopus were chosen. Lions and friends enjoyed the fresh sashimi and what's even more delightful was the thickness of the sashimi slices.

Assorted Sushi

Ebi Tempura and the almost gone Grilled Ika that the Lions forgot to
take a photo of.
Prawns with Shitake mushrooms
What's a meal without dessert?! In comes the creme brulee and the
Tofu Cheesecake.

After the meal, the server asked Lions and friends whether they would be interested in having a look at the top. Being curious, they agreed to go up and were dazzled by the view there.

Casual Dining at Collin's

Hi Peeps, it's been sometime since the Lions blogged. This is due to the fact that Cuchi found a new job harvesting rainbows thus the initial phase took up a bit of her time.... Oh well, at least she is settled down now. The Lions managed to find a little joint in Marsiling. Well, it's not exactly upmarket but one will feel a bit like it with the commendable quality of the food. Cute Cute discovered this place while he was roaming around the area. Enticed by the menu filled with Japanese and Western food items, Cute Cute decided to bring Cuchi along to give Collin's a shot. Of course, on their way to Collin's, the lions noticed this kitty who was sleeping on her work!

Just 5 more minutes of sleep please...
I promise I will deliver the fax after that
Separated from the rest of the coffee shop,
Collin's has their very own corner of tables, chairs and utensils.
A humble-looking place
Popular with the family
Although Collin's is set in a coffee shop, you will be given a menu
plus a basket to place your utensils. It is not often that the Lions give a review for
a hawker stall but Collin's quality and prices do deserve a shout out .
Modern, they even have a facebook page
The Lions' first item was the Saba Shioyaki. Done very well and comparable
to the standard of some Japanese restaurants but at a fraction of the price.
The main draw for this meal was actually the soft shell crab salad.
The portion of the soft shell crab was generous with mayonnaise and sweet sauce .
The garlic fried rice was pretty average but the portion was big enough for 2!
And of course not forgetting the Agedeshi Tofu
that put some restaurants here to shame.

The Lions were very satisfied and happy. Good Japanese food at a fraction of the price at restaurants. Recommended for those on a tight budget.

Here is our review for Collins:

Food Quality: 7.5 pawprints out of 10
Ambience: 6 pawprints out of 10 (It's a hawker stall after all)

Japanese Sweets at Dulcet & Studio

After a fulfilling but exhausting long day serving the Lion of Judah, the 2Cs, together with a hungry bunch of eleven friends decided to recuperate and fellowship over some Sunday sweets.

At first, they were turned away several times as the cafe of choice - Dulce & Studio - was packed to the brim with other voracious folks and had no room for the tired group. Never disheartened, they headed elsewhere to satiate their hunger pangs before returning with sweet hope.

This time, the group was ushered to a long table where they immediately appointed the two gregarious Sweet Kings of Desserts - Mr RJT and Mr Mark X to fill the table generously with as many sweet treats as they could find.

The two eager kings rolled up their sleeves and got to work:

Selection:
Matcha, Chocolate Marble and Cheese Chiffon Cakes;
Chocolate C Cube; Mont Blanc; Cream Puff; Mille Feuille;
Custard, Milk Tea and Coffee Puddings

Dulce & Studio is a new lifestyle cafe by the people behind Tampopo Deli. ''Dulcet'' refers to the sweet treats of delectable Japanese cakes and pastries while "Studio" alludes to cooking classes that can be conducted within the confines of this modern Japanese cafe that seems to be inspired by the "Muji"philosophy of clean minimalism with her white-washed brick walls and warm wooden accents.

The cafe's logo spots a cute neko silhouette:

Even our furry felines cant resist the sweet treats.

Watch the solemn expressions of pastry chefs in deep concentration
through a narrow glass panel
Clean, bright, minimalist decor

Main courses written in colourful chalk
scribblings
Learn to bake what you have just eaten ....
Wow! Have you tried such premium ham before?

The guys were soon side-tracked by the extremely competitive beer prices during the stipulated Happy Hour (3pm - 8.30pm daily). They huddled together at the counter for nearly 5 minutes in stunned happiness before giving in to pure malty pleasure.

Happy Delirious Hour!
Japanese beers like Suntory and Sapporo at
extremely competitive prices, easily
one of the lowest on the island!
5 bottles of Suntory beer going for $25.50.

The selection of  pasta dishes made from premium
imported ingredients at reasonable prices (below $15)
calls for repeat visits.

Now for a Japanese Smoke Out.... at Kazu Sumiyaki

Cuppage plaza, one of the few old buildings on Orchard Road, a bit dingy but still retains its 80s' charm, it houses some Japanese establishments which include restaurants, night clubs and massage parlors. Cute Cute, a lover of Japanese food, happened to be exploring Cuppage Plaza and looking out for great Japanese restaurants when he chanced upon Kazu Sumiyaki. When he was first there, he was so surprised to see that the place was packed and reservations were needed. The whole of Cuppage plaza was so empty but yet this place was packed to the brim! Cute Cute decided to make it a date night out with Cuchi to impress her with this new find....
Right in front of the action
Appetiser
The lions requested for the counter seat as they enjoy watching the masters at work. Surprisingly, the prices of the yakitori skewers are very reasonable. What caught their eyes was the foie gras which is very affordable. Kazu also has their own seasonal menu which changes frequently.
From left: Foie Gras, Bacon with leek, Chicken, Asparagus wrapped with ham

From left: Squid tentacles, pork belly, chicken ball, beef ball

A unique utensil just for skewers
Now the food took sometime to come so the lions just enjoyed watching the masters at work as they take out the food to be bbq in various ways.
The main chef of Kazu
Stewed fish dish
The skewers were wonderful, nicely charred and each emitting their own unique taste.
Scallop with leeks
Lamb chops

Pork with basil, beef and enoki
Loving every item that they ordered, the lions were really enjoying their meal and the time passed so fast that they found out that they were there for already one and a half hours. Extremely delightful, cosy but bustling little place, Kazu Sumiyaki does really know how to impress the diners.

Here is our review for Kazu Sumiyaki
