OMGrill!

Oh the travails of being an entrepreneur in the Lion City! And it's especially tougher in the cut-throat world of F&B here. But for those with enough stomach, passion and gumption to brave the heat and eventually see their efforts pay off - chest pump! R-E-S-P-E-C-T! It certainly takes the courage of a lion :) We are loving this terribly unassuming and likeable dude, KS Ng, behind OMGrill. Being the winner of Singapore's first reality cooking competition and a mini-celebrity in his own right certainly hasn't gone to his head. What's worth making a trip down is his amazing Banana Crepe inspired by the local snack - Goreng Pisang. This dish, together with a curry crepe, won him the title of Singapore's first Wok Star. But, of course, tuck into the mains as well that are coated with delicious smoky goodness by this Grill Scientist. Our young, up and coming hawkers certainly deserve your support.

Armed with a degree in Food Science & Technology
from NUS, this guy beat 15 other aspiring hawkers to
clinch a year's rent-free stall sponsored by Koufu.
Thank heavens for this sign.
The location of the stall was not very visible from the front.
Ok found it!
Grilled Half Chicken ($7.90) with 3 sides.
Special dish on the menu: Indonesian Chicken.
Original Chicken Chop ($5.90) with 3 sides.
Grilled Chicken Crepe with Cheese Sauce ($4).
Banana Crepe with Coconut Ice-cream ($4).
P.S. If you have watched Wok Stars on MediaCorp's Channel 5,
you would know how difficult it was for KS to churn out these crepes
as the heat and consistency had to be just right.
The lions enjoyed their casual chat with KS during a lull breather moment. He was endearingly honest about his experiences and quipped that he had to take a seat to think if being his own boss was all the more satisfying. It's hard work indeed. And rent-free doesn't equate to no overheads... there's other hidden costs to factor in.

Walking around the Jurong East Area with its megamalls after the grub ... ...
